As fans, some would like to decorate their space in GoT themes.

Here are the 5 tips to decorate your home or room to Game of Thrones theme.

Tip 1 – Get to know the Houses in GoT

Get to know the parties or rather the houses in the Game of Thrones. There are 9 houses in the Game of Thrones. Their names, family seals and motto are tabulated below. Use this as a starting point in your plan to decorate your place.

The 9 Houses of Game of Thrones
GoT-House Targaryen
GoT-House Arryn
GoT-House Baratheon
GoT-House Greyjoy
GoT-House Lannister
GoT-House Martell
GoT-House Stark
GoT-House Tully
GoT-House Tyrell

Tip 2 – Pick a House

To start your decoration, best to narrow down a specific place or house from GoT rather than doing all of the houses of thrones because this might be a little too much to try and cover.

So if you’re doing something that’s themed like the Stark house, have a fur throw here and there. Then go for a more “low light” type of look with dark grays, whites, and ash colored wood tones. Or you could do a very bohemian garden look adorn with golden rod yellows, hanging plants, etc.

On the other hand, if you were going for a more Lannister look do more stuffs like a brass/bronze bed frame with maybe some red or white bedding would be really cool.

Tip 3 – Research for Ideas

There are 9 houses to pick from. So one good way to know what decoration according to house types is to look at the set design and pick out elements that really appeal to you.Going online to the usual resources like Pinterest, Youtube forums ,etc. for ideas.

Also think of the time period the series is based on which is in the 15th century. So likely materials like furs, rough spun fabric, knits, silk and natural materials of wood and stone will be prominently used.

Tip 4 – Don’t Forget About The Walls

Then for the walls go for House banners, scrolls, maps (old world earth as well as fantasy) or an example like the above. Have drapery, lots of candles skulls and mounted heads. You may even have weapons- red fl-etcher arrows look great as a “floral arrangement “ Antiqued mirrors, dragon eggs and apothecary style bottles on wall shelf.

Don’t forget tapestries, they may offer a classier look and can blend in well if you get other medieval-dish items like wood and metal furniture, candles, etc.

Tip No 5 – Go Moderate

Another thing to consider personally is to try and keep actual game of thrones branded things to smaller more inexpensive things. This is because if someday you should choose to change up the theme, you wont have to throw out a few hundred dollars life size wax Khaleesi or something like that.

This consideration allows you to change the room’s theme in a few years time without breaking the bank.

Have fun, decorating, this is a great theme!
